As a resident of North Carolina since 2013, I have come to know many beautiful elopement destinations within the state.
Here’s a rundown for you of some of my top picks for places to elope in North Carolina.
1. Blue Ridge Parkway
Located in the majestic Appalachian Mountains, The Blue Ridge Parkway has plenty of space for outdoor couple’s adventures; Hiking, kayaking, tubing, even whitewater stand-up paddle-boarding.
You and your love can explore The Pisgah National Forest, which has some really great waterfalls with a crazy fun natural rock waterslide!
Nearby downtown Asheville has a fun mix of street art, music, good food, and one of the best selections of local beer in the country.
A must-stop when you’re in Asheville is George Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate, the largest home in America. It’s on private grounds, so you and your love will have access to an elegant and luxurious place where you both can enjoy the amenities of the estate, and have plenty of private, intimate time.
The Asheville Arboretum, located adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway has plenty of hiking trails, mountain bike trails, gardens, bonsai collection, exhibits, So many beautiful gardens and nature spots! So all my nature babes, will LOVE this!
2. Great Smoky Mountains National Park
So many breath-taking views here in the Great Smokies. With half a million open acres, there’s no need to worry about having a private place to say your vows!
Take a trip back in time and visit the Mountain Farm Museum, with the log cabins and houses where some of the first American settlers lived.
Tom Branch Falls is another gorgeous spot that you and your love could potentially say your vows, do some tubing or go hiking on the Deep Creek Trail.
3. Chimney Rock Park
You don’t have to make reservations to have your wedding at this mountain lake getaway spot. Rent a pontoon and ride over to the waterfall, a great place to say your vows.
You can also check out the fantastic bird’s eye view of Lake Lure and the surrounding landscape from the Opera Box viewing area or take a stroll along the Riverwalk.
4. Lake Glenville
Rent a pontoon boat and get to the waterfall! Also a great place to fish.
5. Nantahala National Forest
The largest of the four national forests in North Carolina where you can enjoy boating, white water rafting, fishing, hiking and enjoy a nice outdoor lunch at one of the picnic areas.
6. Atlantic Beach
Located on a beautiful barrier island facing the Atlantic Ocean. Plenty of fun beachy activities to do like surf, get a tan on the sand, or go fishing on the pier.
A short trek away is historic Fort Macon State Park.
